American Medical Association (AMA) Agreement
The WPS Government Health Administrators website includes Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, which are the property of the AMA. Because of this, all website visitors must accept the AMA license agreement before viewing any contract-specific web pages.
Select Your Jurisdiction and Business Type
Arriving at wpsgha.com, visitors select the jurisdiction and provider type relevant to their business needs. You can choose either the J5 or the J8 jurisdiction along with a business type, either Part A or Part B Medicare. The J5 jurisdiction includes providers rendering services Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, as well as Part A J5 National providers. The J8 jurisdiction includes providers rendering services in Indiana and Michigan. Part A providers are those that send claims to Medicare on a UB-04 and Part B providers are those that send claims to Medicare on a CMS-1500. You can save your choice for future visits by checking the box to “Remember my selection.”
At the top of each page of our website is a blue banner indicating the jurisdiction and Medicare type selected. You can change jurisdiction and Medicare type by selecting “Click here to change.” On the right hand side of the banner, you will see the “Live Chat” icon and font size icons. Select “Live Chat” for assistance navigating the transactional side of the website between 10:00 and 2:00 PM CT, Monday-Friday. To decrease font size, click on the small A. To increase font size, click on the large A.
Underneath the blue banner is a header with graphic and written links. The WPS Government Health Administrators logo and the house graphic link to the home page. Clicking on “Topic Center” will open a menu with links to the main sections of the website: Appeals, Claims, Claim Review, Cost Report Audit (Part A only), Fee Schedules and Reimbursement, Overpayments, Policies, Provider Enrollment, Training, and Self-Service. Selecting “My Account” will open the Secure Login page, and selecting “Contact Us” will open a page where you will find information on how to contact WPS Government Health Administrators as well as a listing of call center closures. On the right hand side of the header, a green “Login/Register” button will open the Secure Login page, and a search box allows you to search our website for specific information.
At the bottom of the page, you will find a blue banner. Here, you can sign up to receive our Medicare eNews, find links to our social media pages, and navigate to a main section of the website (using the “Topic Center” links). You will also find links our Learning Center, the Portal User Manual, and other resources.
On the home page, you will find a Medicare News section, a System Status box, and Quick Links. The Medicare News section includes links to all news articles, with the most recently published news at the top. If there is a planned, or unplanned, system outage, you will find this information in the System Status box. You will also find a link to Claims Processing Alerts here. The Quick Links section includes links to some of our most used resources.
Our website includes 10 main sections: Appeals, Claims, Claim Review, Cost Report Audit (Part A only), Fee Schedules and Reimbursement, Overpayments, Policies, Provider Enrollment, Training, and Self-Service. You can access these sections by clicking on the Topic Center link in the header or one of the individual links under the heading Topic Center in the footer.
Every Topic Center includes a News and Updates page and a Guides and Resources page. When applicable, Topic Centers also include a FAQ page and a Forms page.
A general description of each Topic Center is below:
Appeals - Information about all types of appeals, including how and where to submit a redetermination request.
Claims - Information about claim submission and denials, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), modifiers, claim corrections, and more.
Claim Review - Information about Medical Review (MR), the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), and the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) program.
Cost Report Audit (Part A only) - Information about the auditing process associated with cost reports. Including performing interim rate reviews and conducting desk reviews for all provider types.
Fee Schedules and Reimbursement - Find information about Medicare payments including Fee Schedules, reimbursement rates, and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
Overpayments - Information about immediate recoupment, voluntary refunds, appeals of overpayments, and extended repayment schedules (ERS).
Policies - Find Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and articles, as well as information regarding National Coverage Determinations (NCDs).
Provider Enrollment - Information and instructions for initial enrollment, changes of information, revalidation, and opting-out of Medicare.
Training - Information about live training, On-Demand presentations, and the POE Advisory Group.
Self-Service - Find links tools like the CERT Claim Lookup, the Reason/Remark Code Lookup, and the Enrollment Application Status Inquiry (EASI) tool, as well as the IVR Operating Guide and information about using the WPS GHA Portal.
Transactional Side – The WPS Government Health Administrators Portal
Our portal offers many functions detailed in the WPS Government Health Administrators Portal User Manual. The most frequently accessed functions are eligibility and claim status.
Security Policies for User Accounts
We must follow CMS Security Requirements for our portal to be secure. Some of the policies are:
- We are required to log you out after 15 minutes of inactivity. We do not have the authority to extend the 15-minute inactivity window. Learn more.
- We are required us to disable your account if you have not logged in within 30 days. We do not have the authority to change this timeframe. Learn more.
- We are required to protect your account by using a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) log in process. Learn more.
- You are required to change your password every 60 days. We do not have the authority to change this timeframe. Learn more.
Using Internet Explorer with the WPS Government Health Administrators Portal
Please note: In June 2022, Internet Explorer will be retired and will no longer be a supported browser. We encourage you to begin using Edge, Chrome, or Firefox now to avoid any disruptions to your portal usage experience.
- Internet Explorer browser users may experience issues with portal pages not fully populating content. Complete the following steps and reopen the Internet Explorer browser to clear cookies and resolve the issue.
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on Tools
- Click on Internet Options
- Under General Tab, Browser History, click on Delete
- Uncheck the Preserve Favorites Website Data box
- Click on Delete
- Click on Apply
- Click on Ok
